It apparently goes down several hundred feet, but the haul capacity was limited. It was mining fluorspar out of a vein anywhere from inches to a few feet wide, so there wasn't much need for high capacity!

I'd misremembered this as a mercury mine--what I get for relying on my memory! I'll change the info in the album description too.
