Nicholas, the Toreador

Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: WHEN I GROW UP (children dressed as adults or dressed for work, e.g. as policeman, nurse, train driver, etc.)
(Not that my brother had any intention of becoming a bullfighter - but he is "dressed as an adult".)
The last year we lived in England, a co-worker of my mother asked her if we liked "dress-ups". When my mother told her we loved them (mostly me and my friends, less so Nicholas - although he got drafted if we needed a male for our plays).
Anyway, this woman told my mother that her 16 year old daughter, who had been on the stage since she was little, was tired of it all and wanted to give away all her costumes. Did we want them?
The stage clothes she gave us were beyond our wildest dreams! The were all made impeccably - all lined and tailored, and there were SO many of them!
This photo was taken after a bunch of our stuff had finally cleared customs and had arrived in New Haven, Connecticut - late summer of 1964. My brother is eight and a half.
The dress-up costumes were used endlessly.
When I had kids, the clothes, (now the worse for wear), were still used and the remnants (still appreciated) ended up being used by kids at a school my friends and I founded in 1990.
