Zeebrugge 1918

Zeebrugge 1918
Written on the back:

Thought I was falling to pieces the morning this was taken so made an effort to brace myself up. Hence the military attitude.
Someone must have said "Tion!"
C.O. on your right sitting.
Chief on your left sitting.
Hyde centre standing.
A temf [?] 3rd on your right standing
Ramrod King at left.
Poorly focused setting of camera & strong sun shining.

My husband's grandfather.

Thanks, fulvue - you were right about the location.

haha."They're all so happy, especially for Englishmen." ??
I actually have quite a few photos of Harry's time in Europe. I've posted some in the Family WW! album, but there are more. Quite a few of them show the post-raid harbor, etc.
In terms of his comments - I think Harry is being light-hearted. He looks very stiff in this, so he's joking about that.
"TIon" is short for "Attention!" poking more fun at his ramrod pose.

I'll try to post some more of Harry's war photos soon. Life is always a little too full!
