The Ash Fork-Bainbridge Steel Dam built in 1898 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway to create a reservoir of water for use in steam locomotives in the Arizona desert.

Only three steel dams were ever built in the United States and the only other one that still exists is the Redridge Steel Dam near Lake Superior on the UP of Michigan.
