Hummingbird

Baby hummingbird just about ready to leave it's nest.
It managed to stay in the nest through a dust storm the night before.

There were two of them in the nest. I don't know if the other one was ready to leave and flew away or if there just wasn't room.
I usually park my car under these oleander trees for shade but I'm waiting for this guy to leave the nest because, for such small birds, they drop quite a few turds.

It has left the nest now. Maybe I'll see it make a new nest and raise it's own chicks at a later date. : ]

my neighbor's yard draws hummingbirds, but i have never seen a nest - now i know what type of thing to look for. amazing creatures - sweet photo.
