Please don't call me "dear" online. People will get talking.

No, I'm not. I'm looking at a picture you've "enhanced" in some way.

The original is a RAW file, which cannot be displayed directly. By "the original" I assume you mean the .jpg image, which I did not use, and no longer have.

As I've said, these .jpg images (produced by the camera internally from the RAW files) are no more "original" than the images produced on a PC from those same RAW files . In fact they are often closer (as here, with a touch of tonemapping to reveal more detail in the trunk and branches) to how the subject appeared to the eye.

I'm sure you know perfectly well that I'm referring to the scene as it was before you started interfering with it. Despite claiming this is the original, you admit to doing some 'tonempapping', which might explain why it does not appear as it would to the eye of a normal person who was not on LSD.

Without a clear definition of "the scene as it was" I cannot say.

This is the .jpg image (it was, I found, still on the camera memory card):

P1000812

If you think it's better than the tonemapped image, then we must agree to differ.

It's not brilliant, but certainly better than the grotesque version at the top.

So we agree to differ. Let's leave it at that.
