man könnte jetzt noch weiter interpretieren, dass Besitz nicht frei, sondern unfrei macht und der Besitzende des Knecht seines Besitzes ist, dass das Lebenselixier eben gerade nicht Reichtum ist und in die Richtung weiter - aber ich glaube, pointierter habe ich es oben ausgedrückt.

Da hat sich jemand die Arme abhacken lassen, um frei zu werden. So wie die Eidechse in größter Not ihren Schwanz abwirft. Welcher Preis ist angemessen für die Freiheit. Links das Gold, rechts die Asche. Die Häufchen sind gleich groß. Es bleibt beim Kunstwerk offen, ob sich das Opfer ausgezahlt hat.
