Black and Whites
I've been shooting black and white since about 1986, and seriously since 1998. Here's an album of all my black and whites on iPernity, both formerly of Flickr, and current. Most of these were shot originally in black and white,
PKP #ET22680, Poland, 2007
Crazily, although I'm a pretty hardcore railfan, I didn't take too many train pictures on my first trip into Poland. This one, of PKP #ET22680, is an exception. I'm not sure of the location.
PKP Electric Locomotives, Poland, 2007

Here's a lineup of PKP motive power, although it's too far away to identify all of it. This was my parting shot before switching back to color film.
Square, Malmo, Sweden, 2007
Does anybody know the name of this square? Otherwise, my title is just going to sound stupid. :-)
17th Century House, Malmo, Sweden, 2007

I also spotted a photo of this in Wikipedia, but not much more information was given. If anyone has information on it, that would be really cool.

Here you can at least see the street signs, showing that it's on the corner of Hjulhamnsgatan and Larochegutan.
Fountain In Park, Malmo, Sweden, 2007
I thought this was an interesting oddity, even if its not one of the better known attractions of Malmo. This was an artificial cave in a park with a fountain in it.....maybe it was more interesting in real life. :-)
Stadsbibliothek (City Library), Picture 2, Malmo,…

I just thought this building looked really cool. I didn't really have any other reason for taking this.

Malmohus Castle, Malmo, Sweden, 2007
Built in the 1530s on the foundations of an earlier castle dating to 1434, Malmohus Castle was quite modern for its day, having gunports for cannon and other then-new weapons. Construction was started on the orders of King Christian III of Denmark, as Denmark controlled this part of Sweden at the time. A short wiki is available here:

Here's the inside of the castle wall in Malmo, which is really more of an ordinary (office? government?) building, albeit an old one. This arrangement is not dissimilar to many castles in the Czech Republic, actually.

Here's another look at the various fortifications, with the gunports and other not-so-medieval features.
Twisting Torso, Malmo, Sweden, 2007
The skyscraper in the back is called the "Twisting Torso," and is actually nothing less mundane than an apartment block, although it's the second highest one in Europe after the Triumph-Palace in Moscow. Completed in 2005, it was designed by Santiago Calatrava, and based on a sculpture by Calatrava that the building's contractor (and ultimately backer) saw in 1999. An interesting story, to be sure.
Tram Tracks, Malmo, Sweden, 2007
I was a bit surprised to see this tram tracks just tucked away in an out of the way neighborhood adjoining Malmohus castle. I'm not aware of whether they're part of a limited tram system, a local industrial railway, or a tram museum, but in any case they're quite interesting, I think.
Windmill, Malmo, Sweden, 2007
The windmill is also near the castle, just as in Copenhagen, and again I don't really know what its intended purpose was. Again, I need a history lesson if anyone has the time! :-)
Kobenhavn H Station, Picture 2, Copenhagen, Denmar…

I'm 90% certain this was Copenhagen. Why? Because I think I recognize it. :-) I had to stop here on my way back from Sweden, before getting a train to Hamburg, and then to Prague.
DB #101 019-8 In Hamburg Hbf, Hamburg, Germany, 20…
This was the scene when I got to Hamburg. That beautiful Class 101 electric, #101 019-8, was regrettably not on my train, but another Class 101 was, so I got my railfan's treat of the trip. I love those 101s. :-)
