2009
Since I've made albums for 2007 and 2008, and figured I should make one for 2009 also, even if 2009 wasn't nearly as interesting a year. Maybe the most interesting development in 2009 is that I got my first cameraphone, and while I still consider film far superior, more photos than ever this year (read...any at all) were digital.

When I went to Radlicka soon after taking the Haje snow photos, the snow, albeit wet snow this time, was coming down again. Here #9140 with an unidentified T3, awaiting its next run.

This small Chapel is somewhat incongruently placed next to the Radlicka tram station and the modern CSOB bank building. The Kaple sv. Jana Nepmuckeho was built to a Baroque design in 1722, and now sits in modern surroundings

By the time I shot this cameraphone image in Palmovka, the snow had finally melted. DPP #9112, the second Skoda 14t, now carries an advertising livery for BBC Fitness.

One of the most annoying things about businesses and brands is their unwillingness to leave well enough alone. Coca-Cola's blunder of changing its formula in the 1980's would be one example. Krusovice wasn't quite that stupid, but in 2009 they did replace their very ornate and attractive label design, on the left, with the cheap-as-hovno design on the right.

It isn't clear to me whether this was a Eurocity or a national "Rychlik" or Express train. The lighting was too bad to get the number, the train was a through express train not listed on the trainboard, and of course my cameraphone has crap resolution. Nevertheless, I decided to upload this runby just because I like how it looks.

Here's the second shot of the runby. The blue coach actually isn't a coach, but a diner or sleeper (I can't tell which) operated by JLV, a private rail services contractor. Since JLV specialise in running diners (or restaurant cars in European terminology), I'm assuming it's a diner.

These freight cars, the lead one a "freight van," or boxcar, in American English, were sitting in one of the sidings at Hostivar, and the light seemed perfect, so I tried some shots.

A few years ago, I shot a photo of the still-surviving Cercany water spout, but now it seems to have been removed. This was the hole where it once stood. I thought that I had posted the old photo to Flickr, but it seems to be missing. I'll have to search for it.

I decided to take a bunch of detail photos of a T3 in Radlicka one day, but by chance on the day I found one parked correctly, it was one with a Margot advertising livery. Oh well....
