Fighting the Lubec Tidal Rip

Fighting the Lubec Tidal Rip
... not the wake of another boat, but instead the row of whitecaps is part of a standing wave caused by the hard flow of the falling tide (20 minutes earlier, the standing wave was much bigger!) ... at full/new moon, the tidal rise-and-fall here is more than 8 meters through this narrow channel ...
The Lubec Narrows separates Maine USA from New Brunswick Canada.

Dimas Sequeira, Fred Fouarge, , and 4 other people have particularly liked this photo

We have much the same in the Bristol Channel but I believe the ones you experience are bigger.
Cute boat but I bet it's a toughie!
Best wishes, Andy

A Beauty this shot! The gulls are aware of a meal, nice view. Ys

You wrote about Mapsights, I've seen too and think we've to live with in an era where internet isn't ripen complete with it's many missers concerning safety etc. etc. At the moment internet stands in 'the childs' shoes' I think.

Friendly greeting,
Peter
