Strangely enough it isn't, Lucy, Luke and Finn went to Robin Hill, so just Isobel and me played trains.

I was brought up by a steam train fanatic - picnics in fields by by railway lines, and for 3 years we even lived next door to a level crossing keepers cottage, literally 30ft from the main line to Weymouth. Dad never got through a breakfast without getting up from the table to watch the Wessex Express steam past.
Happy times and thanks for reminding me of them Nick.

Hi Maggs ~ Wow what a fabulous upbringing. We lived for a few years a mile or so away from the Waterloo to Exeter line and could see the smoke, but had to climb a tree to see more.

So I used to cycle to see a friend whose garden overlooked the railway or visit an Aunt who lived close by.

Semley, Gillingham and Templecombe stations saw a lot of me in school holidays. The Atlantic Coast Express was the principal southern region express roaring by every day, whilst at Templecombe there was also the Somerset and Dorset line which had the Pines Express.

A lovely nostalgic capture Nick, as a kid the S&D ran past our front door but I was a Western boy so it was the towns other station for me.
