Taken from a balcony of a previous flat. I will post another shot soon which might, but only might, shed some light on what this is! And even though I have included it in HFF, don't let that fool you!

I broke the law. This shot is taken from the railway tracks! However, there was a crossing point here, roughly in line with the Roman road, and I was surprised to see it blocked off (the reult of an unfortunate accident maybe? But probably just offialdom). I wasn't going to retrace my steps and add another hour to my journey,so I climbed over the fences, trespassed on the tracks and saw this for HFF with the palace monastery of El Escorial as a backdrop!!

This motorway slices the univerity in Madrid completely in two with just this footbridge linking the two sections of a vast campus area. The unused cenral lane is almost certainly a dedicated cycle lane.

Another classic fence (I don't include the wall in my fence definition, only the posts and wire). And another favourite tree.

Not the most exciting of fences but I saw there was a distant view of the sea and St Agnes Beacon which I wasn't expecting from this low down on the slopes of Carn Marth and I think the proportions just about pass muster..

Principe Pio metro and mainline station, Madrid.
2 metro trains are below. I waited for as long as I could but I couldn't get main line and metro trains to co-incide!

Love in Vain lyrics (Robert Johnson, as re-arranged by Jagger and Richards),
Well I followed her to the station
With a suitcase in my hand
Yeah, I followed her to the station
With a suitcase in my hand
Whoa, it's hard to tell, it's hard to tell
When all your love's in vain
When the train come in the station
I looked her in the eye
Well the train come in the station
And I looked her in the eye
Whoa, I felt so sad so lonesome
That I could not help but cry
When the train left the station
It had two lights on behind
Yeah, when the train left the station
It had two lights on behind
Whoa, the blue light was my baby
And the red light was my mind
All my love was in vain
All my love's in vain
HFF everyone!

Metro Station, Madrid.
Station recently renamed. Was called Campo de Las Naciones, now called Ifema (the name of the nearby National Exhibition Centre).

'Open-plan'. Metro and mainline, trains, tracks and passengers (not to mention shopping mall, food hall, cinema complex - the usual suspects) all sharing the same 90s designed space. It actually works very well imho. All built within the old mainline terminus of the Estaciòn del Norte (you can see the impressive ironmongery of the old terminus at the top).
Sight and sound. Just like it and always have ever since I first heard it every morning stuck in a traffic jam on the M40 into London. Silly video but great pop song! www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvAnQqVJ3XQ

A wall, a few rudimentary fences and a stile on the Southwest Peninsula Coast Path, Near Basset Cove, Cornwall

Arcaded outer perimeter of the Nuevos Ministerios buildings designed by Secundino Zuazo in the 1920s. Work started in the early 30s, was delayed by the civil war and resumed under Franco who changed the design to suit his own more conservative tastes.
