Motorway and fence(s). Madrid. On my way from metro station to class, crossing a Madrid ring road. I have looked at the 'location' mapping notes and apparently this area of Madrid is called (translated) 'Valley of Springs'. Charming! but not so today, alas. It amuses me that this motorway ring road is called the M40 (only Londoners would understand my amusement!) Sight and sound: R.I.P. Barrie Masters. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NOgFUWkQJM I liked Eddie and the Hot Rods and like early punk but fully agree with Barrie Masters when he said his band wasn't punk but a current version of rock and roll. I gather he didn't much like punk, even though he is heavily associated with its origins.

Parque de Santander, Madrid in fading light.

This was formerly the main line station to all points north and was called La Estacíon del Norte.

I've posted from here a few years back but I couldn't resist taking more shots today.

Alcobendas, Madrid. I have just crossed the bridge and am descending the ramp, on my way to give another class. about a 15 minute walk from the nerest bus stop. Many industrial estates assume that everyone has a car; there is often no public transport service to them. The bus stop you see here is the one I use for my journey back to Madrid centre.

I will probably have to much reduce my involvement on this wonderful site for a while. Extreme pressure of work and other 'stuff'. But I don't really know. Certainly there won't be much activity from me in the short-term. Catch you all up later!

Not the most beautiful of stations; this, the busiest of Madrid's mainline stations, nevertheless it has a certain functional or utilitarian charm, imho!
