Full screen, preferably! At low tide you can scramble on these rocks (they are submerged at high tide). Low tide increases the range of photo opportunities.

From the cliff path to Fishing Cove, Reskajeage

The so-called nudist beach at Fishing Cove is below here. I have never seen any nudism here since this the beach was officially declared a beach for nudists. Before then, apparently yes, but I didn't visit it then! :o(

Family geranium (see notes!). HFF everyone!

My Mum's garden. HFF everyone! These came from my great-aunt's garden at her farm in Zennor, Cornwall. I hadn't seen them before (yes similar ones but not this vibrant). She couldn't remember where she got them from (cuttings from cuttings going back to the 1930s apparently). I took cuttings (this was in the early 80s), planted some myself in my London garden and gave some to my mum for her garden, also in London at that time. Then my parents retired to Cornwall 20 years ago and this nice geranium followed. I feel a strong attachment to it! It has faithfully followed the family around for the best part of a century! I want to take cuttings to Madrid and establish a Spanish branch. It deserves its place in the sun!

Nice to wake up to this!

View to La Sierra de Guadarrama, past the 4 towers (only 2 visible from here), taken from the top of Torre Kio. (I gave English classes to very - and I do mean very - senior bods at Bankia. One of the advantages of teaching Business English to top executives, is that they all have offices at the top of prestigious towers. Occasionally I ask permission to take a shot from their (very plush) offices!

Santiago Bernabeu, the home of Real Madrid

Apparently about to be demolished to make way for a 'state of the art' stadium (the plans make it look like a metal Cornish pasty!) I like this one and don't see why it needs to be demolished! Shot taken from the Torre Europa, across the Paseo de Castellana, where I used to give classes at KPMG. (For that matter, I also used to give classes at Real Madrid) .

Pony on Treaga Hill, Portreath

Whether it's a Shetland pony as all the notices say, or not, has been discussed at length on Panoramio. I still don't know!. I can't get local people to confirm either. People say it is too big to be a Shetland. I should put this question on Rene's new group! Perhaps I will!

Gurnard's Head (full screen please)

09 Jul 2012 32 34 757
Named for it's resemblance to the head of a gurnard, a tasty red fish caught around here. Its only drawback is its very spiny and bony nature, but the taste almost compensates! The main slab of cliff face (black, centre-right) houses the famous climb 'Right Angle'. You traverse to it across the lower rocks (mid-centre) and ascend the steep crack. Yes. I did it once (1978). A terrific mid grade climb! It was a very enjoyable climb, so much so that, more than any other climb from those years, I can remember almost every move!

This tunnel was dug to enable access between two small coves, each of which is used for fishing boats. Very near Land's End, West Penwith, Cornwall. For Pam.

The white, guano-stained, rock up above, is where I creep up to as quietly as I can to take photos of the Griffon vultures that normally occupy this place. it is estimated that this huge precariously sited boulder is so white because Vultures have been here since the end of the last ice age, therefore 8 - 10,000 years. Enough time for a serious staining problem to develop! Sierra de La Cabrera, Madrid Province. Also, one of these granite hot heads is going to get red-carded for a head butt soon, probably both of them!

This enormous slab of granite looks mushroom-like from afar, not so much from this close. Its summit is the highest point in La Sierra de La Cabrera.

This is my mushroom rock!
