La Sierra de La Cabrera - granite extravaganza!

I have a very strong need to get back walking here again. It's been four years now, what with one thing after another, but I aim to get up there this Spring for the Spring wildflower show (so last 2 weeks in May in reality).

Shot of my mum's garden in midwinter from inside the outside loo.
Sight and sound. Enjoyable clip of Lou Reed and David Bowie getting it on!

My preferred low tide rock-hopping walk passes by here. In the distance is Porthcadjack Cove with Asparagus and Samphire Islands.

HANWE, everybody. Tenacious ivy

I've followed this cliffside plant for perhaps 30 years and it seems to thrive in these inhospitable conditions. Perhaps worth viewing it on large. I greet it like an old friend! From the steep footpath down to Fishing Cove.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=av2vgiYAlXY - again, just 'cos I like it!
First camellias of the year. HFF everyone!

On a spectacularly dull day (apologies for the litotes there), the first camellias added much needed cheer!

The nerve centre of the largest world empire up to that time - Phillip II's imposing palace / monastery.
Worth a look on large and further for the palace detail.

The corner of Fore Street and Telegraph Street. I rather like these weatherboarded cottages. There was a town cross here until the late 18th century but it had to go as the waggons loaded with tin couldn't get by.
Sight and Sound, purely because Hendrix was on fire for this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMglEXFCClg

I quite like the mix of functionality and the striving for just a little bit of something more in terms of art here. I find this in many parts of this former tin mining town and hope to show more as and when.
Maybe worth a look at some of the detail on large.

One of my New Year resolutions is to get back here this year and resume my walking / scrambling / photography among these rocks!

From the Roman road near El Escorial. Perhaps view on large for details of the granite-flecked hills (Las Machotas) and the deserted farmhouse. The tree is a mature encina (holm oak) and is pretty ubiquitous - and much loved - in many parts of Spain
Path between Algete and Fuente del Saz de Jarama

I took a few late summer shots from this path earlier this year and the aridity contrasts markedly with this spring shot.
On the horizon is the Sierra de Guadarrama, also known as the Montañas de Madrid.
Better perhaps on large (especially to view the poppy fields)..
Fore Street, St Day at night

The clock tower lit up for christmas (its colours change every few minutes). A typical St Day street scene, the houses are all over 150 years old and many are considerably older than that. As I've said before - it's a bit of a time warp here but none the worse for that!.
Sight and Sound. No reason, except that I like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhu_1I3aMAQ

I've oft told of this being an officially designated nudist beach but ever since it became 'official' the nudists stayed away. They would certainly have to be dedicated to venture down there on this bitterly cold day!
Sight and sound - an all time fave piece of music by a 15 year old genius, www.google.com/search?q=mendelssohn+octet+youtube&client=firefox-b-d&sxsrf=ALiCzsZogar8nsMX_B705mCMLX3_Mw_q1Q%3A1672019920583&ei=0P-oY5afI4qcgQbEmLRY&oq=mendelssohn+octet+&gs_lcp=Cgxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAQARgFMgQIIxAnMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIKCAAQgAQQhwIQFDIFCC4QgAQyBQgAEIAEMgoIABCABBCHAhAUMgUIABCABDoKCAAQRxDWBBCwA0oECEEYAEoECEYYAFDpC1jpC2CEsAJoAnABeACAAWGIAWGSAQExmAEAoAEByAEIwAEB&sclient=gws-wiz-serp#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:411660e8,vid:9JTH4ZdJcjk

St Ives Bay from the coast path, near Reskajeage farm and Hell's Mouth on the Cornish north coast.
Sometimes a moodier palette seems to be appropriate.

Whilst waiting for the car to be MOT'd, this friendly little fellow came over for a chat and a stroke. A bit bedraggled in the rainy weather, nevertheless seemed in fine fettle. We were both sorry I didn't have a carrot or an apple to give him!

Pednandrea Stack.
Near the centre of town, an attractive reminder of an unnactrative industry. It seems that this was part of one of the major mines in the region.
www.mindat.org/loc-1141.html
It appears that in addition to the usual tin, copper and arsenic of the area, uranium was also mined.
Best on large to admire the stonework in the chimney.
