I don't know what it's like anywhere else. But in that region (Montafon, Austria) all the water needed for artificial snow-making comes from rain that falls in the mountains on summer days and is collected in reservoirs. And the electricity needed is also generated with this water. But there is still a lot left: the Silvretta power plants supply "green electricity" all the way from Austria to Germany.
