It looks so awkward to use! I don't know if it had an engine, or...? Thank you, Rosa.

Yes, it is! I've seen lots of photos of similar things scattered around in Australia, many having to do with mining. (Maybe in your gallery...I don't remember.) Thank you.

I know you talk of your area occasionally as being a bit ... shall we say ... 'backward'. If that is the case, then this is still in active service, I presume.

Diane Putnam has replied to Andy Rodker
It's kind of a pile of lumber, at this point, so that might be a problem. ;-b
Backward, yes, but there are these instead: www.ipernity.com/doc/1227338/36802378/in/album/786978
Thanks, Andy!

It is! I can't even imagine how much all of that would cost and how long it would take to pay it off.

It actually looks to be in pretty good considering it's age. It all looks a bit complicated but I'm sure it did the job..!!

A charming image Diane.

Thanks, Keith! So many moving parts, it's hard to visualize what it was like when operating.

I love to see old machinery with some wood on it. And the location is fascinating.

Diane Putnam has replied to Smiley Derleth
It looks like it was made in somebody's barn, but there was a real company making these. ;-)
Thank you kindly, Smiley!

Yes, the Klamath Basin - a wide, flat plain surrounded by mountains - is in both Oregon and California. The part in Calif. is even more desolate than in Oregon.
