Lake Shasta

Lake Shasta
In northern California. Mini-CAT loaded for a trip to a small island in the lake. Photo by my son, who was also going to the island with a crew to repair some trails. The grey boat thing is a personnel mover (whatever it's called), WWII era.

kiiti, Gudrun, aNNa schramm, Sami Serola (inactive) have particularly liked this photo

I think it's an LCVP - Landing Craft Vehicles and Personnel. That's the British designation, I think the US is the same.

They're usually based on and used from Amphibious Assault ships. They're quite often sold as Military Surplus goods and make good, reliable work-horses for all sorts of things.

Super shot, by the way!

Sounds exactly like what was described by my son. I wonder where it "served." Since it's on the west coast, it might have been in the Pacific islands, even the Philippines or Guam.

It is a super shot and I told my son so! Thanks, Keith.
