Sandstone colors

Sandstone colors
"Like uncemented sand, sandstone may be any color due to impurities within the minerals, but the most common colors are tan, brown, yellow, red, grey, pink, white, and black. Since sandstone beds often form highly visible cliffs and other topographic features, certain colors of sandstone have been strongly identified with certain regions." From en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandstone

That is one of only a few paragraphs I understood in the Wiki article about sandstone, a more complex kind of rock than I had imagined.

kiiti, Andy Rodker, , Steve Bucknell and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

This has quite a few cracks- give it a few cold winters and some of it will be gone.

It weathers beautifully. A sunny bit of geology.

Right, if you're going to see geology, it looks best when weathered. Thanks, Steve!

Often too crumbly for rock-climbing, but there are exceptions! This looks do-able!

Lots of cracks for a toe-hold. I refrained, however. Thank you, Andy!
