Tsunami Zone

Tsunami Zone
The Oregon and N. California coasts are always at risk for a tsunami caused by a Pacific Rim earthquake. There are many signs in the area directing people to the correct route to escape.

I like the simplicity of it. More on another, much more destructive, tsunami in 1964 is upcoming.

I thought this was a nice little lesson. I like the common-sense advice, "Do not wait for a siren or other warnings. Leave immediately!"

In Japan, I make evacuation towers from the tsunami.
It is Japanese style that the evacuation tower collapses due to the earthquake :-)

Eeek!!! Kiiti, in the USA, we call that "dark humor." ;-o

We only have air-raid sirens, I don't think we have towers. People on the coast are supposed to "run like hell." The tsunami in Japan was one of the worst disasters to ever happen, in my lifetime anyway.

I never felt quite comfortable in seaside hotels on the coast of Chile or (even worse) in downtown Wellington....
Leave immediately is sound advice:-)

Oh, they have terrible earthquakes down there, and I wouldn't trust the building standards at all. Still, I would take the chance if I had the opportunity!

I recall those many signs about tsunamis when I was in your state Diane.

In my case, I shake for at least 20 seconds when I see a Lady in high heels but I haven't seen a lot !

Hahaha! There are not many high heels in Oregon!
