America's gun laws and the seemingly inability to reform them is incomprehensible to most of us here in the UK..!!

I know that, Keith. The tragedy is that this is incomprehensible to millions of Americans, too, but the gun fetishists rule Congress, thus the country. There is NO political will to change it, most especially among Republicans. Not even the massacre of 20 first-graders was enough. No amount of death is enough. People must have their guns and the rest of us are told to shut up and leave the country if we don't like it. It is our national shame.

My father owned two guns all his life. They were for hunting. Before he died, he was shocked and disgusted by the way gun ownership has become a frenzied religion.

I agree, Diane, it has become very depressing to watch the endorsement of more anger and violence by a significant part of our voting population. And, it's getting closer to home, for you Roseburg and Malheur, for LGBT's in So Cal, first San Bernardino and now the Orlando massacre. The NY Times released an article this morning showing that we're roughly 900 times more like to die of gun violence than someone in Germany.

Our country is being horribly damaged, bit-by-bit. Terrorists won't do it, we'll do it to ourselves. Now, a despicable man is running for president and he and his followers call for mayhem. It seems it will never end.
