Never heard of British Eagle- they must have gone out of business before my time... The carefree holiday would have been before the "troubles":-)

Yes, a few years before. The "stewardess" in the ad looks appropriately goofy for the 1960s. So helpfull!!!

We had a neighbor who had the model Ford Anglia that in this picture and in the noted picture. It was terribly underpowered for use on American roads.

I had one in1965-66. It was a '60, I think, and it cost $25 and it was the super-stripped-down model. It was a horrible mess, don't know why it seemed 30 years old. I didn't care about that too much, but DRIVING it was one of the worst and most hilarious things I've ever learned to do well.

Double-clutching? Yes.
Ether in carb before starting? Yes.
Gear shaft thingie falling off going into 3rd? Yes.
Hole in floor w/view of road? Yes.
Brakes? Mmm, sort of.
Stranding in intersections? Yes.
Interior accessories/upholstery intact? No.
Heater in winter? No.
Overheating in summer? Yes...
...thus, driving all summer with the "heater" knob out? Yes.
Power of a 2-day-old kitten? Yes.
Sounded like an actual car engine? No.

Why didn't I fix these things? I was in college. It cost $25. I had no other money!

Many years later I met a man my age who'd had an Anglia about the same time, also in college. He had exactly the same issues. We kept a whole dinner party entertained with our outrageous Anglia stories. Personally, I think a GI pulled a bunch out of ponds in England and shipped them to the USA to sell to young, dumb students. Thanks to that Anglia and the 1949 Chevy panel van I drove for a few months, I can drive anything.
