A platform view of Minehead Station, Somerset. It was first opened in 1874 as the terminus of the Minehead Railway but closed in 1971. It was reopened in 1976 and is now the headquarters and terminus of the West Somerset heritage Railway. Since this was once a true country branch line of the old ‘Great Western Railway’ we still see the original benches. The train on the left is about to depart being pulled by a steam engine.

Enjoy full screen.

Have a great day.

Sehr Klimaschädlich. ;-) HBM

I very much doubt these few local trains do much harm. I hear a field of cows do more to harm the climate nowadays!

I stand by your expertise Jens. Yes, I actually knew some of this already and as a keen carnivore cannot argue. It would be nice to only consume organic here but that would put up our (my) food cost up considerably, in fact so much so, that I would have to consume far less -and that may be a good thing too? The steam trains here in this picture only run on certain days and times and only for a few miles.

A beautifully framed candid and a superb capture of this very long platform Herb,
not so many years ago almost everyone who travelled to the nearby large holiday camp came via this railway,
HBM and a great week!

Yes it would have been really busy in those days but in fact it was still busy with tourist wanting to ride on those steam engines. They looked to be offering afternoon tea on board too.

A super candid shot Herb.............and nicely framed. Shame about the litter bin though! I do like the livery on these old trains........much better than the gaudy colours of some of the new companies.

Haha, yes, thought about trying to get rid of bin but no go! I know what you mean about the colours. Glad you enjoyed this anyway.

Best wishes. Herb
