Down in Port Mulgrave.

Down in Port Mulgrave.
A tour of this old spot now. We have managed to scramble down here using steep steps, ladders and ropes you can just see on the left here. There are a number of habitable dwellings down here, created by fishermen no doubt. They can all be described perhaps as what we might call ‘character houses’. Dotted around are all kinds of ancient paraphernalia.
We can just see the abandoned tramway tunnel entrance slightly to the left and above that rusty A-frame, but it is now sealed up of course..

See PiP for more distant view and adjacent last photo for top view and more detailed historic description.

Enjoy full screen.

That does look rather steep, especially viewed large! Just the sort of place I like to investigate. The dwellings sound great and I like the one with the boats outside in your picture. Superb shots Herb. Cheers, Rosa.

That look like a really difficult scramble to get down there Herb..............and having looked at the PiP, I can say with some certainly that I would probably have given it a miss..........so well done!

It all looks a bit dilapidated and I think "character houses" is being generous. Even the sea defences are falling to bits. Having said that it looks like an interesting place to explore and take photos and it has an fascinating history!

I like the green and brown colours on the cliffside.

Hi again Keith. It was a bit of a scramble especially for my septuagenarian wife, Eileen but we made it up and down OK. Ah yes, I was being generous perhaps with the housing terminology. Glad you liked it.

Hi Herb you made it down and back up a bit of a scramble not many go down there and some never return bet you had it all to yourself.
