A view of the Inn

A view of the Inn
Quite a famous view here for many tourist who come from far and wide to visit the Ribblehead Viaduct. Many of those pop into the 'Station Inn' here for a pint or meal, maybe even spending a night or two in its rooms. The lonely station that caters for the 'Settle Carlise' line, that runs over this bridge, is just right of this scene and the viaduct to the left by about 300metres. For those lucky enough here, the sounds of steam can be heard and accompanied by the fabulous sights of some of our most famous steam engines ie 'The Flying Scotsman' , 'Mallard' and 'Black Fives'. The road we can see going uphill carries on to the village of Dent and an unseen road goes from the bottom of the picture, right towards Settle.

See PiPs for more from around here.

Very much so Roger. A long lonely road here that can be fierce in Winter. Glad you enjoyed it.

Enjoy your Sunday too.

Such a beautiful old bridge............I really love the stonework and the detail you've captured. A very picturesque pub too. I love the view through the arch with the cars in the far distance.

A superb image Herb.

Thanks Keith, I keep promising myself that I shall go in here one day and have a drink but can't think now when we will be up here again after two such trips in two days. ~ A real job to get the light right here without the distance being blown out!

Keep safe. Herb

Hi Herb,

A place I know well. And a nice frame for the pub too. Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of seeing it in winter, and on looking back it is poorly represented in my ipernity collection. www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/46972460
The adjacent picture in the album (http://www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/46976056 ) reminded me of your Ingleton viaduct scene.. And not so far from Ribblehead. (But you would be a brave man to risk a shot like that in preference to Ribblehead though...)

Best Wishes
Peter

Thnaks Peter and so glad that you have enjoyed my viaduct pictures from this area. I have yet to see a steam train going over here But I was once near the viaduct and heard the steam engine, when it was well out of sight. Your two photos are, of course excellent examples of how things should be caught. as you can see, Winter here can be most beautiful too.

Keep safe and well. Herb

hi Herb.
Admiring so much the view through the old arch of the viaduct which leads us to the Station Inn, where I'd like to spend one or two nights to enjoy this so interesting and fascinating site.
