Stepping stones on the river Doe

Stepping stones on the river Doe
A tranquil view of the river here quite high before its steep decent to Ingleton village via numerous waterfalls. In the background we can just see the peak of Ingleborough with its White Scar outcrops.
The distant buildings is the White Scar Cave complex car-park and cafe. These caves burrow their way for miles underneath all this limestone. An adventure that I undertook years ago too.

Enjoy full size.

Just a little detour to here Toz but well worth it in my opinion. It was nice to see the river here before the great tumble down.

Cheers, Herb

Nice to see you Petar. This was never a bridge but simply stepping stones to cross the water in average conditions without getting your feet wet. Here we see it in high flood conditions.

Best Wishes, Herb

Nice to see you again Bea and I am very gratified that you viewed it full size. I always edit my photos to be seen that way. As you say, you can imagine the peacefulness even with the sound of rushing water here. A splendid spot for sure. Glad you like dit.

A lovely scene, Herb. I'll take a guess that those stepping stones are pretty slippery too - did your walk take you across them?

Hi George -yes, the stones looked pretty treacherous really. I did not try to even step on them for a picture. In reality, I had rather rushed down here, leaving my wife stranded at the top of the hill behind me and so photos snapped and then back up that hill and the next leg of the waterfall trail Glad you enjoyed it.

Take care. Herb

So nice, but I'm not sure I would cross on the stones.

Even when the water is low and the stones dry this looked a bit daunting my friend and so don't worry you need not go across.

Peaceful panorama with those stepping stones that we also find many times in our North Country. It seems in the pas "things" were fair.

yes a nice peaceful scene here and as you say - a scene repeated in our Northern hemisphere quite a lot.

Wonderful light and scenery Herb. I love the stepping stones and the contrast between the calm water on one side and the churned up water on the other. I also like the subtle green tones of the landscape . The combination of the wall, fence and trees divides the image nicely between dry and wet!

A grand job sir!

Another in-depth comment Keith. The stepping stones did mark the edge of changing waters here. The greens like much of the Yorkshire Dales countryside has a million shades, even in late winter.

Keep good my friend. Herb

A beautiful landscape with the stepping stones leading the eye in. The stepping stones look very neat and quite close together but I'm a total coward and generally convinced I'm going to fall in.
