Glen Muick

Glen Muick
High in the Balmoral estate here, and we have our back to the almost bleak Loch Muik. This is actually called the 'Spittal of Loch Muick'. Just further to our left is the River Muick. Just beyond our eyesight here a herd of wild deer are grazing (see PiP). Not a spot to go running about in without some care.

Enjoy full screen.

I'm currently reading "The Wild Places" by Robert Macfarlane, and this reminds me of some of the landscapes he describes.

I like the earthy colours in this shot............and the fine detail you've captured in the grasses. The water makes a great leading line. Very well taken Herb.

Great to see the deer in the PiP..........did you manage to get any closer to them!

Thanks for this Keith. Glad you liked the colours etc. I did get more close-ups of the deer and physically nearer too. Maybe I shall post some of them but this was in-keeping with the overall landscape.

The names Spittal and Muick are perfect for this kind of terrain as anyone knows who has ever had to negotiaite their way through this stuff!

Haha, I know exactly what you mean as I have had to wade through stuff like this too - quite close to home on our Saddleworth Moor.
