Ploughed field

Ploughed field
You see here 'Master Ploughing' at its best! Seen just outside the village of St Cyrus in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Fields like this are not what we usually associate with Scotland -more like wild mountain or Island Higlands and Lochs. For me however, a very pleasant surprise and I take my hat-off to the farmer who ploughed this field with such precision and care.

As usual, best viewed full screen.

I expect all the potato shoots are through now. I really admire good tractor and plough work.

Hi Amelia. Like you , I think this would be for potatoes too. As it has been barely three weeks since I took it, I doubt that the shoots would be showing yet, but I suspect that you may well know better than me.

Thanks Roger. On seeing this from the car, I nearly did an emergency stop. Fortunately I found somewhere I could park it for a few minutes whilst I took a dozen shots of this amazing field. Glad you liked it. ~ Herb

Good soil, good ploughing and good photos, Herb. I must admit I prefer the more graphical style of the PiP.

Thanks for this George. I did grapple with the question as to which shot I should put on here before deciding on a PiP. After reading your comment I decided to make the PiP a full photo here for other people to leave comments on if they wished and also so that they could choose which they liked best. It seems now that doing that was the right decision. Glad you liked them both though.

Well................no shortage of leading lines in this shot Herb!

Superbly composed with a wonderful earthy (literally) foreground full of detail. I love the row of lush green trees running along the horizon. The blue sky tops is off nicely. Beautifully done.

Keith, it seems that I can do no wrong with my photos here for you. In that I am always honoured by your visits and comments. As said to Tiabunna above, a decision taken now to have the close up for a main photo too. I fell in love with these captures at the moment I saw them on my camera. I have a vertical version too but this just has the edge.

Spectacular ploughman ship Herb but I can't help feeling technology had a hand in this as well.

Ah Maurice, a man after my own thoughts. I do agree with you here. After listening to 'The Archers' for years now, I know they have giant plouging machines and tractors that are guided precision-wise by GPS and computers. This looks altogether too good for any normal farmer and his horse :) Glad you liked my capture too.

Wow, it is impressive ploughing and doesn't it make a great picture! Love your perspective and the row of trees finish the scene very well. Nice PiP too. Regards, Rosa.

You sure are right Rosa. I have often seen other people's photos of such fields and looked on in envy. Here I had a rare chance to capture something special for me. Glad you liked the PiP, which is simply the adjacent photo.

You would have taken just the same, perhaps even with the Milky Way just over the trees :)

Yes, a great photo, without a doubt. ~ Herb
