A light on Cuba

A light on Cuba
Or maybe not! Seen in the old city of Havana, Cuba. These old lamps abound here but I seldom saw any burning at night. I love the cast iron knight on the top, The whole thing looks like a gas lamp relic but maybe it was electric but since the glass was so murky I could not see the bulb nor filament inside. Contrast this with the chic mansion behind. So typical of this beautifully interesting city of yesterday.

John Goodwin, Erhard Bernstein have particularly liked this photo

A lot of work went into making this lamp, and as you say, could be gas or electric, nice shot... YS... John.

Nice to see you again John. Yes, I think you are right. Havana has many such sights as it is still locked in a time-warp of the 1950's. I am sure these things will soon disappear now that the embargoes are slowly being lifted. Cheers, Herb

That's great, Herb. A pity you did not participate in the game that finished the 24th. I was searching for a new photo for the new game and I found some other lamps I had not seen when I searched last month , even two very beautiful in a cemetery.

I would love to visit Cuba before it changes. Dany

Hi again Dany, yes, I saw via your pictures that such a contest was ongoing and it was indeed very attractive for me as I have many such pictures. As always due to travel restraints I have a reluctance to enter such things but I shall, in time. All the same, I am gratified that you still enjoy my photos and see that I still have things to offer the community here. - Yes Cuba must be visited, especially Havana before things change too much. I shall post more Cuban shots shortly.
Regards, Herb
