Kukulcán pyramid Chichen Itza. Mexico

Kukulcán pyramid Chichen Itza. Mexico
Usually referred to as El Castillo ("the castle"). This step pyramid stands about 30 metres high and consists of a series of nine square terraces, each approximately 2.57 metres (8.4 ft) high, with a 6-metre (20 ft) high temple upon the summit. Inside the temple chamber was a Chac Mool statue and a throne in the shape of Jaguar, painted red and with spots made of inlaid jade On the Spring and Autumn equinoxes, in the late afternoon, the northwest corner of the pyramid casts a series of triangular shadows against the western balustrade on the north side that evokes the appearance of a serpent wriggling down the staircase, which some scholars have suggested is a representation of the feathered-serpent god Kukulkan. All part of our latest south west Caribbean cruise Daniela. two weeks of hectic sight-seeing with bits of calm sun-bathing in-between :) Mexico was our last destination before returning to Jamaica for our flight back to the UK. I was surprised at both how hot it was here, you could barely stand in the open sun and also the amount of crowds everywhere making record photography difficult. Everybody else were using their phones for selfies at the ruins. Glad yyou like it, Herbert

I never was on a cruise , only passages to Greece or from Finland to Sweden, a night. And never was on the Caribbean. I would love to.

Ah the master of good notes on their photographs speaks! So good that you enjoy this and you also found my limited research worth reading. Always good to have some idea to what it is we are looking at instead of just 'Mayan ruins'.
