What a charmer! What a colour. Our wrens are cute, but very plain in comparison!

Hi Steve,
I have been trying to see (let alone take a shot of) a hoopoe. They are very common in Spain. I have lived in Spain for 6 years. I have been out and about in the conditions they like. I have seen and taken photos of much rarer wildflife. But do you think I have ever seen a sodding hoopoe??????????

There are a few here in WA and all stunning colours but they are in small environs you just got to be lucky to catch them . i believe if you dont try you will not get the result.....worth the effort. Steve
