Carolina anole shedding skin

Carolina anole shedding skin
This one confused me for a while. I saw some movement on the ground, but instead of the green scales of an anole, I saw a dead twig. After looking at the photos for a while, I decided the anole was in the process of shedding its old skin.

Well spotted Roland................even if if wasn't shedding it's skin it would still have been nicely camouflaged. A fascinating image and something I guess that's rarely seen.

Thanks, Keith. Yes, when they aren't shedding they are either green or brown. I don't think I've ever seen one in the process of shedding its skin.

Thanks, Sara. There are zillions of these lizards, of course. I don't think I've ever before seen one while it was molting.

Nice shot. I would not have seen it without your explanation.

If it hadn't moved, I would never have seen it. Thanks for the visit and comment, micritter.
