Birds of winter 2: Vultures (mostly turkey vultures, I think)

Birds of winter 2: Vultures (mostly turkey vultures, I think)
Black vultures stay here all year, but the turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) go north for the summer. They have recently returned to the south. They roost on power poles at night until the sun dries their feathers in the morning.

Wonderful! When they leave us I always feel sad. I love watching them sailing up high in the sky with such grace and in October I have to say 'goodbye' to them until the end of March.

I think there is plenty for them to eat here. I am sure they will return to you in the spring.
