Thanks, Betty. I was sitting on a log by my pond, and the dragonfly was doing calisthenics on this dead plant. I'm pretty sure I've seen them before.

I like your identification a little better. They are very similar. The spots on the wings look a bit more like the online photo of the pennant I found www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/distr/insects/dfly/usa/342.htm. The pennant is not in the Kaufman Field Guide.
