Jupiter & Mars (5 January 2018)

Jupiter & Mars (5 January 2018)
The planets are closer to each other this morning. Callisto is visible between the planets. Jupiter's nearer moons are very close to the planet. I think the planets are overexposed; if it is clear tomorrow morning, I will try to correct this.

Sky was clear on 6 January, but I did not focus the camera accurately. Will try again on 7 January.

I'm impressed that you can get such pictures without a telescope.

So am I, but I am still learning the details of taking pictures like this. My camera has a 50X zoom, but with manual focus it is very difficult to know when the image is right. The later photo was done with a careful automatic focus.
