Beautiful! I have only one time seen more than a handful of cranes, that was in the area of Perry, not to far from Lansing.

I think they mostly spend the summers in central Canada. They have been coming to this refuge for a fairly short time - about 20 years, I think I remember. They used to go to the Gulf of Mexico, and a few still do, but I guess the birds decided North Alabama was far enough to fly.
