Making plans for a new safari by any chance?

Looking at your pictures, Conneaut is definitely worth a stop. Looks like they run a 4.8kV delta system. A muni perhaps?

I won't be able to go up to Conneaut anytime soon, but I figured I would start exploring northeast Ohio since I haven't visited this part of the state yet. The utility is Cleveland Electric Illuminating.

That first pole is a definite MUST. The smooth GE pellet arresters are OLD!! Looks like the utility at Conneaut uses ridge pins to make riser brackets and the sub has Frankenstein switches galore.

The sub sounds neat. I haven't seen it yet.

Is that one of the smooth body pellet arresters there? Those are tough to find--they were not made for very long.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Cleveland a muni?

If you go to the northeast of Ohio, need to check out the CD 302s glass insulators in service. They're along highway 20 and just west of highway 576. There were still close to about 80 -100 in use.

Definitely get that pole at 8915 Cannon Avenue--the funky shaped transformer on it is awesome! The Westy on 1926 N Ellsworth Avenue in Salem is a nice one too. Looks like a 1920's vintage CSP unit.

Looks like the system in Rocky River is still 2400V?! At 19937 OH-2 there's a rectangular can in use.

I made a mistake in the above comment, the 302s are in northwest Ohio.
