This week, I was sent home early from work one day. I arrived home almost 2 hours early, much to my son’s surprise and was just in time for us to share a ‘pot’ of coffee. I toyed with saying I’d been ‘naughty’ LMAO though I knew he wouldn’t believe me, or that he’d fret. I opted for the truth: orders were down due to a cap because of a driver shortage, and there were local system errors too, so they were desperately trying to get rid of staff. The supervisor had determined how many hours or part hours we had left in this leave year, and then offered us the chance to leave early. I took it! It was lovely to work such a short shift especially as I’d hurt myself the previous day, just putting my coat on. Good grief! Still no news about the X-ray…

In other news, I binned a couple of clothing items. It was difficult, but it had to be done. The first item was a fleecy that I bought from Dash over a decade ago with birthday money. I loved it! A nice green, with autumn leaves over it, so warm, and so comfortable but it’s now thin, has no ‘pile’ left on it, so with a heavy heart, I disposed of it. I also disposed of a long cardigan. Lovely when new, complete with pockets, though it’s now pilly and has a large hole in the front that simply can’t be darned. Sighs… I really need to buy some new clothes. I have a few tops that need binning too as they’re far too big on me now but it’s getting out to buy anything, and even harder finding something nice.

The Ship’s Dog had a check-up this past week and they say he has some arthritis in his spine, already knew he has some in his neck. They suggested an injection, can’t remember what it is, though it’s supposed to help him, at a cost of £60. What they didn’t mention was that they were going to charge me almost as much again for administering the injection, and for the consultation. Ouch! He’s supposed to have this injection every 4 weeks, on top of the meds that the receptionist keeps saying cost ‘just £43’. I don’t know how much she earns, but that’s a lot of money to me! The meds seem to make him a tad incontinent, so I doubt I’ll buy those again, and to be honest, some over the counter meds that we’ve had from Amazon seem to be far better in the long run, cheaper too! I love him to bits, want what’s best for him too, but at the end of the day I work part-time in a supermarket and don’t earn that much.

The only excitement we’ve had here, is yet another heavy load come through the area, third one in less than 6 months. I’d seen it on the news and was hoping I’d avoid it due to not working late, however I ran into it just as I was leaving the supermarket car park. If I’d been 5 minutes earlier, I’d have missed it. As it was, I crawled home at 10 miles an hour whilst stuck behind the heavy load. It then crossed onto the opposite carriageway with a large police presence, and I finally managed to get past it. I’m assuming it needed to be on the ‘wrong’ side in order to get around the roundabout. At the next roundabout I got stuck behind a learner. I swear, I was stuck there for 5 minutes whilst they gave way to every single car that came around, and wouldn’t try and push in. Only when the road was completely clear, did they drive on. OMG! So, a 2-mile journey, took me almost 20 minutes. I was frazzled by the time I got home. My son then watched the heavy load go past the back of the house on the main ring road; he confirmed it was huge! No idea what they were transporting though it begs the question, why on earth didn’t they do this on a Sunday when the roads would have been emptier?

The weather here has been up and down; some mornings it’s 2C and slightly icy, another it’s 10C before 6am. Can’t make up its mind. I’m bored with winter now, roll on spring lol.

Keep warm if you can. Keep safe out there people.
