Here in the UK, it’s business as usual. The PM went for a nice long cycle ride whilst telling the rest of us to stay local. Police were seen eating and drinking in a café whilst the rest of us are not allowed, and most cafes are shut anyway. And a politician has told her constituents to stay home unless it’s absolutely necessary to go out. She told them this whilst she’s sunning herself in far off climes. Talk about hypocrisy! So, as I said, business as usual; one rule for us plebs, quite another for the politicians and the police. To be clear, I’m doing my best to abide by the ever-changing rules to keep me and mine safe, and whilst I do not condone rule breakers, I do understand why others aren’t following the rules whilst our leaders continue to flout said rules ; monkey see, monkey do, and all that. If they try to come down even harder on us, whilst they continue to flout their own rulings, then I can see trouble ahead. I can’t be alone in this thinking…
This week, I’m on leave and I’m using this time to (early) spring clean the house. It’s not like I can go anywhere or do much anyway. Monday: I cleaned the dining room. Furniture was moved and dusted, windows were cleaned, stuff tidied away, I mopped the floor, and a good vacuuming was performed. I clean regularly, it’s just that now and again it’s good to move things and thoroughly clean. I also cleaned the front door, and the floor of the hallway. Monday night I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages.
Tuesday: The Deckhand did not have a good night Monday night and boy did he let the dog and I know about it! Talk about a bear with a sore head… I stripped the beds, then moved some furniture, and gave my bedroom a good vacuuming, and polished my wooden furniture. We have workmen taking down a garden wall opposite. I understand this is a noisy affair, but what is it about workmen that they must blast us all with their moronic pounding music whilst they work? It’s so intrusive and annoying and I know where I’d like to shove their radio!
In the afternoon, I had an optician’s appointment, and what an epic that turned into! I went for a routine check-up though have had some issues. The optician gave me a cursory eyesight test and spent over half hour looking at my eyes using a very bright light. He then phoned the hospital and packed me off to the emergency eye clinic. They did similar tests and used some drops that numb the eyeball; a very unpleasant experience. To say I have an eye infection is oversimplifying things; there are cells in my eyes that shouldn’t be there, and it seems I’ve had a reaction to a long-standing eye condition. No idea why. I had to wait 20 minutes for prescriptions, and nearly fell over when I saw the carrier bag of eyedrops I need to use for the next 6 weeks prior to a follow up at the eye clinic. 4 different lots of eyedrops; one for bedtime, a lubricant, an anti-inflammatory, and an antibiotic. Thank goodness that due to my age I don’t have to pay! I was out 3 hours in total, and I got home just after 6pm to find the Deckhand had made dinner for us. What a star. After dinner, I took some time to check out my prescriptions, and have had to work out how to schedule 13 lots of eyedrops throughout the day; 4 times a day of 3 different types, then 1 before bed of a different type; they all have to spaced out. I thought the previous 6 times a day of 2 different drops was challenging lol.
The plan for the rest of my week off is to tackle one room a day and to give each room a very thorough cleaning. The kitchen will be the most ‘fun’ as I’ll clean the oven too. It’s never dirty, as such, but kneeling on the floor to clean it is quite a chore to be honest. At least all this housework will keep me out of mischief…
Have a good week, be safe.

That is a lot of medication. I do hope ultimately when you're done your eyes are ok. That sounds a bit concerning, packing you off to emergency like that. It would have made me quite nervous.
Enjoy cleaning. They're still working on my bathroom and it seems every time I get it all cleaned, more work dust insidiously appears!
I'd rushed home from the optician as I had less than 45 minutes to walk/run home, get my car and some money in case of car park fees, and dashed out again before the specialist left for the day. I gather my son was quite concerned, and the dog wouldn't settle until I came home again.
It should be fine, thanks, though I won't know for sure until my follow-up appointment in around 6 weeks.
The biggest issue, will be using the drops in work, and I'll have to inform the supervisors that I need to leave the floor every hour or so to administer the drops. Fun! lol
Oh heavens - your poor eyes!!!! That is a lot of medication and what a palavar trying to sort out when to use those drops. Were you aware that you had this problem with your eyes?
I can understand what you mean about the different laws!!! LOL but it is the people who seem to think that the rules don't apply to them, who are keeping this virus alive in the UK. True it isn't good to see the PM cycling to work, but if he was to go by car, then he's polluting the air!! He can't win can he? I do think they should state the rules more clearly. They should state that you can walk around your home area but no further than 5 miles away. What really does irritate me, is the lack of bothering to wear masks. I've not been out at all, but have to go to the hospital next week and I'm really alarmed at going out, especially to the hospital. Isn't that where the COVID19 hangs around? Must go for a Cardiogram and ultrasound, then I can come home and relax.
They've been sore a few weeks now, and the one looks like I've been smacked though I'm happy to report that after just 24 hours, they're more comfortable now, and the redness is disappearing fast. Having to do this though, for 6 weeks, is going to be a drag to be honest.
They're now starting to come down hard on those that won't wear a mask, and you have to prove you're exempt. Really, they should have done this months ago! was at the hospital a while and everyone was covered up, and staff had plastic aprons too. I'm sure your hospital will be safe for you. Hope all goes well at your appointment.
One rule for t5he haves another for the have nots, twas ever the same
I've had eye 'issues' for some time now, so I'm kind of used to it now, though my son was concerned for me. After only a few days, they look and feel better though close work is challenging. Just hope I can see my scanner in work without too many issues. .
