The brilliant poet, novelist, songwriter and performer Leonard Cohen introduced the world to "Hallelujah" as the opening cut on side two of his 1984 album "Various Positions" featuring Jennifer Warnes. The resulting single reached number fifty-nine on Billboard.

In 2004 k.d. (Kathy Dawn) lang included "Hallelujah" in her LP "Hymns Of The 49th Parallel". Leonard's Cohen's partner Anjani Thomas said ""After hearing k.d. lang perform that song at the Canadian Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2006 we looked at each other and said, 'well, I think we can lay that song to rest now! It's really been done to its ultimate blissful state of perfection'." The single peaked at number sixty-one.

Generally a capella quintet Pentatonix (Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola) had "Hallelujah" on their chart topping 2016 release "A Pentatonix Christmas". This time the song reached number twenty-three. This was the group's second Christmas album. Pentatonic is a scale in music theory.

Justin Timberlake vocals and piano with Matt Morris and Charlie Sexton had the most chart success on Billboard with "Hallelujah" when it peaked at number thirteen in 2010. This is from the "Hope For Haiti Now" telethon. The album debuted at the top of the Billboard chart.
