Fats (Antoine) Domino and long time collaborator Dave (Davis) Bartholomew wrote "Valley Of Tears:" and charted at number eight pop, number two R&B in the summer of 1957. This track is from the LP "This Is Fats" and was the first of his many singles to include an overdubbed vocal group. Fats had eight children: Antoine III, Anatole, Andre, Antonio, Antoinette, Andrea, Anola, and Adonica.

Until a friend introduced me to this I had no idea of this song's existence. Buddy Holly's (Charles Holley) cover of "Valley Of Tears", a personal favourite, peaked at number twelve in 1961. Producer Norman Petty is playing the organ. The chart position is from a Wikipedia article but I cannot find any substance for the posting. As a matter of fact the issue elsewhere is listed as 1958. There is no mention of the Buddy Holly release in Joel Whitburn's publications.
