It was 1976 when the Isley Brothers (lead vocalist Ronald, Ernie, Marvin, O'Kelly and Rudolph Isley with Chris Jasper) released "(At Your Best) You Are Love" on the album "Harvest For The World" and dedicated it to their mother. The album got to the top of the Soul chart and the top ten pop while "(At Your Best) You Are Love" was not a intended as a single.

Aaliyah (Haughton) covered "(At Your Best) You Are Love" for her initial LP "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number" at the age of fifteen. Issued as the second single from the album the song reached number six on the Top One Hundred and number two on the Billboard R&B chart. This was produced by her mentor R. Kelly. Wikipedia "Aaliyah's uncle Barry Hankerson, was an entertainment lawyer who had been married to Gladys Knight. As a child, Aaliyah traveled with Knight and worked with an agent in New York to audition for commercials and television programs, including Family Matters. When she was only ten years old she went on to appear on Star Search where she performed "My Funny Valentine". Aaliyah chose to begin auditioning while her mother made the decision to have her surname dropped." Aaliyah died in a 2001 plane crash at the age of twenty-two.
