Juice (Judy) Newton and Eddie Rabbitt were responsible for the first commercial recording issued of "Both To Each Other" (Friends And Lovers). This was number one on the Billboard Country chart. Just weeks after this single was released the pop version was issued. The Country hit appears on the Juice Newton LP "Old Flames" and Eddie's album "Rabbitt Traxx".
"Friends And Lovers" (Jay Gruska - Paul Gordon) was actually first recorded as a duet between Gloria Loring and Carl Anderson in 1985 for the "Days Of Our Lives" television soap opera. Singer, actress Gloria Loring (Goff), ex of Alan Thicke, was a cast member on the show. Judas in the Broadway and film productions of "Jesus Christ, Superstar", Carl Anderson appeared on the show to sing the duet. For some reason it was not released until the summer of 1986 and peaked at number two on Billboard while topping the A.C. chart.
