Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra issued :"My Mammy" (Walter Donaldson - Joe Young - Sam Lewis) in 1921 and topped the chart. It was Paul who commissioned and introduced George Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue".

"My Mammy" (Walter Donaldson - Joe Young - Sam Lewis) was a big hit for "the world's greatest entertainer", Al Jolson (Asa Yoelson) with the Abe Lyman Orchestra. In 1928 this single charted at number two. Al sang "My Mammy" in the Broadway musical "Sinbad" but didn't record it until the 1927 film and first talking picture "The Jazz Singer". After Pearl Harbor he was the first star entertainer to entertain troops overseas.

The Happenings (Ralph DiVito, David Libert, Tom Giuliano and Bob Miranda) charted with "My Mammy" in 1967 when the tune peaked at number thirteen. The single is from the LP "Psycle". Note that when David Libert left the group in 1970 he managed several acts including Alice Cooper, George Clinton and Funkadelic, Living Color and Vanilla Fudge.
