The Dells (lead vocalist Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Chuck Barksdale, Johnny Carter, Mickey McGill) first recorded "Stay In My Corner" (Wade Flemons - Robert Miller - Barrett Strong) in 1965 and peaked at number twenty-three on the R&B chart with this Vee-Jay issue. This appears on the album "It's Not Unusual". Ray Charles fired the quintet as his 1966 opening act after they received too many standing ovations.

"Stay In My Corner" was re-recorded in 1968 for the Cadet label and topped the R&B chart and number ten on the Billboard Top One Hundred. The original from the Dells LP "There Is" was more than six minutes, this is the radio edit.
