Roy Hamilton recorded "The Aisle" (Billy Dawn Smith - Stuart Wiener) in early 1957. Like a few other recording acts Roy was a successful at commercial art and placed a number of his works in NYC galleries, even as a teenager.
The military came calling for Fred Parris shortly after the success of "In The Still Of The Night" when The 5 Satins changed reformed (lead vocalist Bill Baker, Jim Freeman, Tommy Killebrew, Ed Martin and Jesse Murphy) and covered "To The Aisle". Often the single's composition was credited to the group members, sometimes it's credited to Smith and Wiener. Either way the song peaked at number twenty-five on Billboard pop, number five R&B and can be found on the 1957 LP "The 5 Satins Sing". Don't laugh but that sure does sound like a Billy Vaughn sax.
