Based on a poem by war bride Dorothy Norris, "You'll Never Know" (Harry Warren - Mack Gordon) was featured in the film "Hello, Frisco, Hello" where it was sung by Alice Faye (Leppert). This won the 1943 Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Even though the tune was released as Frank Sinatra's first solo single and the first tune recorded by Barbra Streisand, former movie stunt man Dick Haymes and The Song Spinners had the biggest hit later in 1943 when this cover of "You'll Never Know" reached number one on Billboard.
