"Nothing Compares 2 U" was first produced in 1985 for The Family (Susannah Melvoin, Paul Peterson, Eric Leads and Jellybean Johnson) and their only album "The Family" by Prince himself as one of his many projects. It was released on his Paisley Park label but the song was not issued as a single. Susannah Melvoin is the twin sister of Wendy Melvoin who played guitar for The Revolution.
