The Motown production team of Holland - Dozier - Holland wrote "Baby I Need Your Loving" in 1964 and it became the first of many hits for the Four Tops (Levi Stubbs, Abdul Fakir, Lawrence Payton and Renaldo Benson). The single peaked at number eleven, the album was called simply "Four Tops" and included the talents of The Funk Brothers with the Detroit Symphony.
The Johnny Rivers cover with Darlene Love and the Blossoms came out in 1967 and hit number three on the Billboard top one hundred. This is from the top twenty album "Rewind" featuring members of The Wrecking Crew and the arranging talents of composer Jimmy Webb.
