The first two verses are in Maori, the next two in English on the original 1927 issue of "Po Atarau" (Maewa Kalhau - Clement Scott) by Ana Hato and Deane Waretini. This was used to say farewell to Maori soldiers heading to WW 1. The tune is based on Clement Scott's "The Swiss Cradle Song". It's believed that Clement Scott was a pseudonym for Albert Saunders.
